Microfluidic Simulation

Mysia has developed cutting edge Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools aimed at predicting and analysing the behaviour of fluids in microfluidic devices.

The tools use the Lattice-Boltzmann method, which is ideally suited to microfluidic applications. One of the major advantages of the method is the ability to simulate the dynamics and behaviour of suspended particles within the geometries of microfluidic channels. This offers the opportunity to apply these tools to applications such as cell sorting and droplet flows.

The capabilities also include solving heat transfer and electric fields over the same fluid domain. These can be used to integrate fluid dynamics studies with electro-osmotic and dielectrophoretic effects as well as heat dependant properties of the fluid.
